My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Go Hibiki
Who is this character?
Go Hibiki is a non-playable character from the Street Fighter universe. He is the father of Dan Hibiki who was murdered by Sagat. This design of Go Hibiki came off of the time he appeared as an assist move Dan had in one of the Pocket Fighter games. The reason why Go looks like this is because Dan is a parody of the main character from King of Fighters, who’s dad is Mr. Karate, which Go is based off of. In the download the creator originally refereed to him as Oyaji, or father.
Why did I pick this character?
I at first though the character was some sort of Super Boss that people with MUGEN like to make, Evil Ryu and all the Akumas I have. So I downloaded him to go with those characters. When I realized he was a relatively normal character I tried to look up what made him so special. Which was only the character he was based off of.
How does he play?
Go Hibiki plays like some sort of combination of Ryu and Dan. He does hadoukens and shoryukens and calls them such. He can toss two different hadoukens, one that is blue and one that is red and faster. He can roll on the ground as his forward dash is a roll and it can keep going until hit out of it, which is fun to goof around with. He also has Dan’s taunts which actually can cause a hit, he also has Dan’s dive kick. For specials he mostly uses a variation of the gadouken. He can do a super gadouken and a two-handed gadouken which launches so quick it can look invisible and launches the opponent across the screen. Some other specials he has is a super uppercut combo that is based off when he knocked out Sagat’s eye. Another has him shoot large beam from his tengu nose from Pocket Fighter, and a rushing grab that turns into a punching combo and ends with one or two two-handed gadoukens.

My thoughts on the character now:
Go Hibiki is a really simple and fun character. He’s not too over powered like the other super characters that I got him with, but he’s not a push over either. In the end Go Hibiki fits in with the Marvel vs Capcom cast and is a fun addition to my Roster. Also this whole time I typed this post I’m not sure if it’s actually spelled as Gou or Go Hibiki.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Lobo and The Question
BUT FIRST!
A link to past entries. Also my last two updates awhile ago were Haggar & Sodom; and Sol Badguy & A.B.A!
Who are these characters?
Lobo and The Question are two characters from DC Comics and all their various media. Lobo was created in the 90s as originally a parody on the GRITTY AND XTREME art style and writing. However after awhile he started to be just GRITTY AND XTREME with out being a parody and started looking even more ridiculous. He is sorta like DC’s Wolverine, minus the marketability and fame. Oh and he’s a super powered Space Bounty Hunter who destroyed his home planet for fun. Because of this he fights Superman a lot, and is looked at as a villain or anti-hero.
The Question on the other hand is the original character that Rorschach is based off of. However the Question I have in the game, and maybe the more well known one, is the Vic Sage version, and not the most current Renee Montoya version. Question has no super powers, he just a somewhat skilled vigilante with some gadgets. His man thing is collecting information and stealth, the Justice League Unlimited cartoon depicted him as a conspiracy theorist where everything linked to a secret organization.

Why did I pick these characters?
I wanted to add more DC Comic characters to MUGEN and I already had most of the characters that matter. So I decided to go with some C/D list characters that I kinda enjoy and knew of. I picked Lobo mostly because I was looking for Superman villains to put in the game to go along with Bizarro. The Question was chosen because of how I remembered his character in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon.
How do they play?
The Question is a very standard and boring character. He has strikes and grabs, but all together he is very simple. I have only been able to activate two special moves; one has him dash at the enemy striking them multiple times as a question mark spins on their body, and the second has the Huntress appear and shoot a wave of arrows at the enemy. While playing as The Question I noticed that a lot of him seems to be unfinished or unpolished. His voice clips are ripped from the cartoon and overlap or disable other sounds and songs. His hit detection and character sprite seem out of place on grab attacks, and for the Huntress special the opponent is vulnerable to attack and is not stunned or knocked back after the move finishes.
Lobo on the other hand feels like a complete and kind of deep character to play as. He has a special system to his character has he uses a gun which has an ammo gauge. Certain combos and moves use ammo and to reload the gun you must taunt. Besides the gun Lobo also uses punches, kicks, chains, knives, and grabs to fight. He also has a certain combo that makes him pull out a bottle of beer and drink it for health. The few specials I’ve managed to do involve him running over his opponent with his space motorcycle, making two clones, doing a super slam with his chains, and using a rocket launcher with tracking missiles. A nice detail the creator did was having Lobo interact with the Superman character he also created in their character intros.

My thoughts on the characters now:
In the end I find myself to be uninterested in how the Question plays and his general unfinished qualities. Lobo on the other had has so much detail put into it. With the a special fighting system and little details like interacting with other characters, Lobo seems like an actual character from a game. If I had to choose characters to select again I’d skip on Question and I’d definitely pick Lobo again.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Haggar and Sodom
Who are these characters?
Mike Haggar is a the best character ever. He comes from the Final Fight and Saturday Night Slam Masters series where he is a Pro Wrestler and the Mayor. In the Final Fight series his daughter is kidnapped by the Mad Gear Gang, which Sodom is a part of. Besides being part of the Final Fight series, Sodom has also appeared in the Street Fighter series.

Why did I pick these characters?
I picked Haggar simply for the fact that he’s a pro wrestler. If you know me then you know I am a huge nerd who loves wrestling. His version is from Saturday Night Slam Masters so he’s wearing tights instead of green slacks. Sodom I put in because his character is so goofy. Basically he is a big burly otaku from a gang. He wears traditional samurai gear over football pads and blue jeans. He also messed up the kanji for death on his shirt and speaks Engrish.
How do they play?
Sodom is a little slow and has no dashing. He has some basic short range strikes that are kinda ineffective. His taunt also does damage as he headbutts people while bowing. I have only pulled off one super and that was a double power bomb like move. Haggar however has many more moves as his character is from Saturday Night Slam Masters. He has dashing attacks, multiple grab moves from a set up animation including a suplex and his Atomic Buster, and his signature spinning lariat, which that doesn’t do damage to himself in this version.

My thoughts on the characters now:
Sodom is okay to play as but a little slow and short ranged so which isn’t too good of an option in MUGEN which has characters that abuse speed and projectile attacks. Haggar however is very fun to use, just suplexing and powerbombing opponents all over the the place. Haggar is the man.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Sol Badguy and A.B.A
Who are these characters?
Sol Badguy and A.B.A are two Guilty Gear characters. Sol Badguy is, at least to me, the main antagonist/anti-hero of Guilty Gear series. A.B.A however a recently new character in the series that I believe debuted in Guilty Gear Isuka.

Why did I pick these characters?
They are two of the other Guilty Gear characters that stand out to me. A.B.A mostly for her character design and weapon, Sol Badguy was just the only other character I remember that I liked playing as.
How do they play?
Sol Badguy plays pretty fine, I believe this character rip is from Guilty Gear Isuka as well because he has a powered up move that a boss version of him has. He has some great rushing attacks with flashy graphics to go with it. A.B.A on the other had is a little slow, but she has a mode where her Key weapon turns its head into a demon and she gets faster and can do more moves. However MUGEN, even though it isn’t that stable already, but it has crashed 3 times because it states that A.B.A’s AI has gotten into a loop.

My thoughts on the characters now:
Sol Badguy is still pretty good to play as and I have no problems with him. A.B.A is kinda clunky, but a little fun. However the fact that she seems to be unfinished and a bit buggy makes me regret adding her to the roster. I think there are 2 or 3 Guilty Gear characters left.

Only 70 or so characters to go!
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Zato-1/Eddie
Who is this character?
Zato-1 is the blond hair guy and Eddie is the shadow monster that attacks. Zato sacrificed his vision so that he could use Eddie to fight for him. They are from the Guilty Gear series.

Why did I add him to my roster?
Besides Faust, Eddie is one of the characters I like the most in the Guilty Gear series so why not add him.
How does he play?
He plays pretty well. Most of his moves involve the shadow monster detaching from him and going after the opponent. One move involves the shadow to turn into a buzzsaw like weapon and roll across the ground. He some times turns into a shadow demon and can fly like that.

My thoughts on him now:
Eddie’s kinda cool I guess but he’s also kind of boring I feel. At least I only feel that way because this right up was what pretty much killed my tumblr from being anything else besides rebloging things.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Jotaro Kujo
Who is this character?
Jotaro Kujo is from the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series. He is part of the protagonist team that is trying to track down Dio Brando and finally defeat him. His Stand is called Star Platinum.

Why did I add him to my roster?
I had 3 versions of Dio/The World in my MUGEN game already so I thought, why not add the hero character from the game as well.
How does he play?
He plays about the same as he does in the game he’s from. Only down side is that he seems harder to play than Dio Brando and Shadow Dio. He’s still better than The World though. Other than that I’m not to excited by him. He does have the rapid punches attack so that’s kinda cool I guess.

My thoughts on him now:
I could do without Jotaro to be honest. He’s kind of boring and I can’t play him as easy as other character I have on MUGEN.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Dio Brando, The World, and Shadow Dio
Who are these characters?
These three characters are pretty much the same characters. Dio Brando is the main bad guy in the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. The World is his Stand which is like a ghostly fighter he can summon. Shadow Dio is him at full power, he face is covered by a shadow and it’s revealed his head was severed, and sewn onto someone else’s body.

Why did I add them to my roster?
Mostly because I wanted to do that steamroller move that became a shitty meme. Also I played the game they came from when I was younger so that’s kind of why I remember them.
How do they play?
Pretty much the same. Well except for The World. A Stand isn’t really that interesting of a character to use by itself. It only has 3 buttons you can uses. He has no different alternate colors, is kind of a butchered sprite, and Dio Brando is so annoying in the background. Dio Brando plays the same, and well I can barely play him and activate his time stopping attacks. I activated one where a picture of the World behind a bunch of gears pops up on the screen and he punches through the opponent and gore shoots out of their back. I’m pretty sure it’s an instant kill in the actual games, but I don’t know. It only did a little damage, and then crashed MUGEN on me. Shadow Dio is a lot more powerful and you could possible activate his time stopping attack and kill a person during it.
I still can’t do the Steamroller drop in MUGEN and haven’t seen the computer do it.

My thoughts on them now:
The World sucks as a separate character. Dio Brando is pretty good, but I am too shit with him to pull off decent moves with out mashing. Shadow Dio is pretty powerful. He’s beaten the team of Brando and World in a two on one matches. I like him and Dio Brando. I can live without The World by itself though.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Faust
Who is this character?
This is Faust from the Guilty Gear series. He is a goofy looking doctor with a bag on his head an a huge ass scalpel he uses to attack mostly. Did I mention he is hella tall and is a shape shifting teleporter? Well he is.

Why did I add him to my roster?
Because Faust fucking owns. Guilty Gear owns and Faust is pretty much my favorite character in the game.
How does he play?
Pretty much the same as in Guilty Gear. He teleports comically, slashes with his scalpel, and other goofy things. He turns into a little kid and does a home run swing. He can summon a little toy of him to blow up or whatever or he can summon meteors. He also throws bombs that can also damage him. The Gold and Shadow palette skins from the Guilty Gear series are selectable, but I’m pretty sure they don’t do a thing for Faust besides change looks.

My thoughts on him now:
Faust owns and will always own. Just like Guilty Gear.
My Shameful MUGEN Roster: Terry Bogard
Who is this character?
Terry Bogard is the main character from the Final Fight series. He has also appeared in the King of Fighter series, both by SNK. Dude is as American as Hulk Hogan, but not as shitty of a person. He wear a baseball cap, rip sleeves, jeans, and Chuck Taylor shoes. Dude is cool as fuck.

Why did I add him to my roster?
Well I don’t really know. I think maybe I played an old King of Fighters or Fatal Fury game on a CD full of game demos for the PC. I think he was playable because I remember a guy wearing a hat and me telling my dad the game was stupid because I couldn’t beat the other guy in the demo.
How does he play?
He’s actually pretty fun to play as. I didn’t know what to expect seeing as I didn’t remember much from the game as a kid. He only uses four buttons so I also assumed his move pool was super limited. His move’s are mostly strikes and kicks some times powered up by holding the buttons that you pressed. He has strikes that are charged with some sort of blue energy and he dashes across the screen to do some decent damage. He also has at least one fireball move that I’ve seen where he throws a tiny wall of fire across the ground. In one hyper move can punch the ground with his fist to shoot a wave of energy from them, which he can charge to do rapidly 3 times. The hyper move I like the most is one where he charges all the energy he can in his fist and does a charging punch across the level. Once he connects he bounces off in like a shadow step and delivers another punch.

My thoughts on him now:
I really, really like using Terry. I recently discovered this playing as him in the MUGEN arcade mode. Unfortunately he is kind of a chump when going up against stronger, sometimes more broken, characters that I have. Evil Ryu was the bane of my existence when playing through the arcade mode I set up.
